Michael has nearly 15 years of private equity real estate investment experience. He has been involved in the management of nearly $200MM of discretionary fund capital, has led the acquisition and disposition of investments with aggregate gross asset values of more than $1Bn, and led the asset management for more than 4,000 multifamily units.

Michael is responsible for strategic direction, sourcing new investment opportunities, overseeing fund management, expanding capital markets and investor relationships, leading asset management and acquisition initiatives, and growing both the platform and the team.

Prior to founding Arboretum Partners, Michael was a Partner, Investment Committee Member, and Director of Investments at Blue Heron Asset Management, a real estate private equity fund management and development company.

Michael received a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA in International Business, with a concentration in Finance, from the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business. While studying international business, Michael lived in Brazil and became conversationally fluent in Portuguese. He enjoys travel, physical fitness, and foreign languages. He lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife, their son, and two dogs.
